Ask DJ Lyons: How to grill burgers using Nordic Ware Grill Pan

By

Do you like grilled Burgers?

Do you like grilled Burgers? My husband and I really love them. When we have more time, we prefer to cook them outdoors using our charcoal grill.

However, ...

When time is short or the weather is bad, using an indoor grill is a great alternative.

My favorite indoor grill is my Nordic Ware Grill Pan. I've used it to make:

* Grilled Steak

* Grilled Salmon

* Grilled Tilapia

I finally tried grilling burgers with this pan and was quite pleased with the results.

Step 1 - Spray cooking spray on Nordic Grill

Spray cooking spray on your Nordic Grill. To be healthy, use cooking spray with Olive Oil. I like the PAM brand; however, I'm guessing the other brands would work as well as long as it uses Olive Oil as the base.

Once all your ingredients are ready, than you will turn the stove onto high heat for 1 minute or two to preheat. Once you add your meat, turn the heat down to medium heat so the pan does not burn.

Step 2 - Form beef into patties

Form your beef into patties. I learned from watching a cooking show that you should press down your burger patties in the middle. Since they will puff up with cooking, this will make for a more uniform hamburger pattie. I tried it and it works.

We always buy extra hamburger meet because we love having leftovers. Plus, we share some of what we cook with my mother-in-law and her roommate who live in a nursing home. They love, love, love grilled burgers.

Step 3 - Grill burgers about 7 to 8 minutes each side

You should cook the burgers about 7 to 8 minutes on each side if you like them cooked medium. Cook longer if you like them well done.

To drain off extra grease, lay the grilled patties on paper towels for a while.

The burger is now ready to eat.

My husband likes to eat his on a hamburger bun with all the condiments. I prefer it plain instead.

If I do have a condiment, this is the only one that I like on the hamburger meat - Heinz 57.

When my husband grills burgers outdoors, I always request that he adds extra on both sides. I'm still experimenting on how much I wish to add when I am grilling burgers indoors.

In any case, these burgers are tender, tasty, and delicious.
