Ask DJ Lyons: Office Renovations Day 1
57My home office is being re-done
My home office in our log cabin is being completely re-done. On day 1 of the renovations, my two handymen are starting to remove the built-in furniture. Once they are gone, they will probably tear out the sloping floor boards next. Check out the pictures to see the progress they are making.

Click on this link to see the pictures of what the office looked like previously complete with sloping floor, 2 built-in chest of drawers, 1 built-in bed, door that did not close all the way, and tiny closet.
Dismantling the built-in dresser
We have two wonderful gentleman who do all our home repairs. They do a great job and charge us extremely reasonable prices. Their prices are so reasonable that we always end up paying them more than they request as a tip.
I don't know if you can tell how much the floor slopes. When I stand back, you can see the hill. It was a little challenging to get the camera to fully capture that.
You can see one of the built-in dressers being dismantled. Woo-hoo! I will be so glad to see them gone.
They completed this work on the last day of January in 2011.
Built-in dresser #1 ready to cart away
As you can see, the built-in dresser is ready to cart away. It is pulled from the wall and lying on its side.
Built-in bed is half gone
The built-in bed is half gone. Woo-hoo!
Built-in Chest of Drawers #2 is now gone
Built-in Chest of drawers #2 is gone. This was the main set of drawers where the mice and woolly caterpillars most liked to congregate. Boo hiss!
The door now fully closes
The door now fully closes. This will be a very good thing since once they tear out the floor boards, we are going to have cold February wind blowing into this room. Keeping the door closed will effectively block this out.
Stay tuned to hubs showing the day-by-day after looks

Hi Debbie,
What a great idea , to create a hub following the trials and success of renovating your office.
I was going to come in on day 11 but decided to do it the right way round.
Thanks for sharing and take care.
